Etiquette Tea Party

At Girl Scouts today we had a lovely lunch with real tea sets and learned about manners and etiquette. The girls loved balancing the books on their heads and playing a game where you say silly things without showing your teeth or laughing.

Through The Years Girl Scout night

Thanks to my mom we had a plethora of vintage outfits from 1920's-1990's. The girls loved dressing up in all the different dresses and hats! Each girl was assigned a decade and had to tell us some things about it. Then I had a huge bag of things like, Cinderella, playdoh, slinky, Rollerblades, Sorry board game, and tons more and the girls had to guess in which decade it belong to. They earned their Try-it patch and hopefully learned a few things too!

Humane Society

I took the Girl Scouts to the Humane Society this week. Sophie came with cuz she loves dogs and cats, Garen went to a friends house because he's never willingly touched a dog or cat in his life. Maddie's been wanting to do this for awhile, so this was all for her because if it was my choice I would have avoided the place all together. It smelled awful and my allergy to cats started up right after walking in the door.
It's a great thing they do there and I have nothing against animals, but I guess I take after my dad and am just not a pet lover. Walking through the rows of kennels and stepping in dog pee was not really my cup of tea. The girls loved playing with the cats in the cat room and kept asking me to come in. Since I could see the cat hair flying through the air, I kept my distance from that room. The people there were very passionate about what they do and went on to tell these cute little 7 and 8 year olds that if these animals go to animal control they kill them there within 3 days and that we are not good people because we don't take care of the animals on the street. I think the girls left a little bit scared from that info.

Girl Scout Sleepover

Last night in a moment of insanity I allowed 12 girl scouts to come over for a campout. Okay, actually it was really fun! We had dinner, games, nature hunt, smores, star gazing, shadow stories, 1am bed time, 6am wake up, breakfast, nature pictures, played at the park, and enjoyed lots of laughing and screaming (I'm sure my neighbors were thrilled).
My favorite part was when I had the girls all calmed down and telling stories, Andy took advantage of the light shining on the tent and put on a giant shadow dance. The girls were laughing so hard! Although I could really use a nap right now, I'm off to work on the basement.

Girl Scout trip to the PretzelMaker

I took the girls to the Pretzel Maker and they got to make their own to eat. They really had a fun time especially in the nearby hurricane wind machine. Maddie had never had a giant pretzel before, she learned that she really liked them!

Whirl Wind Week

I'm surprised how quickly this week has flown by considering all the early mornings and late nights. It started last Saturday morning at about 4:30Am, that is when I got up to got stand in line to get Maddie into some fun and cheap Summer camps. I was done by 10 and was able to get her into lots of fun stuff.
Last Sunday was Stake Conference followed by a meeting with the Stake Primary Presidency.
Monday was usual, teach preschool, run errands, then a Girl Scout meeting that I had to take all 3 kids with me. Lets just say I didn't stay the whole time. We started P90X a little while ago and Andy and I do it together, which means we don't get started on those hour and a half workouts until about 10PM when Andy gets home.
Tuesday I got called to substitute Maddie's first grade class. I always enjoy teaching Maddie's class, but with the bad weather, and no recess, and lots of testing going on those kids were crazy!

From school we headed to ballet, a quick dinner then to Girl Scouts. I had the girls make finger painted cards for their moms, we had an egg hunt and passed out secret pal gifts during which Sophie cried the entire time. Managing 11 little hyper girls and one crying baby is not an easy task.


On Wednesday after teaching preschool, the day was spend pricing box after box of garage sale items. I didn't finish until about 1AM.
Thursday was crazy hair day at Maddie's school-

I tried to catch up on a very messy house that had been neglected all week. Maddie had ballet pictures so we di hair, makeup, costume, and took Garen and Sophie to the babysitter. Then all Thursday night was spent at friend Amanda's house preparing for the garage sale the next morning. I finally hoped into bed about midnight

Friday started bright and early at 5:45AM. We got all the garage sale stuff out and ready to sell. It was a cold morning but we were just glad there was no snow or rain or deathly wind! The day was busy and we sold a ton.

Saturday was day two of the garage sale. Another early morning and long day selling, taking care of the kids, cleaning up all the left over stuff and finally preparing for Primary on Sunday.

Princess Ball

Andy took Maddie to her Girl Scout Princess Ball last night. He brought her some roses when he got home from work, they got dressed up, and went to the ball for dinner and dancing. And said it was more of a polka princess party then a ball, but he put on a happy smile for Maddie. They got home after 9:30 and she was thrilled to tell me all about her night out with her dad!

Tour of Albertsons

I took Maddie and her Girl Scout troop to Albertsons yesterday. It was actually a really fun tour. Maddie's favorite part was getting the free apple afterwards.

Maddie also got her ballet costume yesterday, so I had her try it on and just had to take a quick picture cuz she's so very cute!

Donating Baby Blankets

Maddie helped make fleece blankets to give to newborn babies with our Girl Scout Troop. Yesterday we were able to go deliver them to the OB nurses at the hospital and take a tour. Maddie was very interested in all the equipment they use for new babies. I think she learned a lot, maybe even a little to much about labor and delivery.

Girl Scout Valentine Bash

Last night was Maddie's girl scout Valentine party. There was nail painting, Valentine making, bingo playing, treat eating, picture frame creating, and game playing. There was also lots of girls, lots of laughs and a little Hannah Montana. Maddie went home with a giant bag of goodies, a balloon and a rose. She had so much fun with her girl scout friends!

Andy got called as the 11 year old scout leader and meets on the same night as Girl Scouts. So he took Garen who really enjoyed tying knots with his dad and the boys and Sophie came with me. She had fun but managed to eat to many candy hearts of the floor, get into the nail polish, eat some dirt from the plants, and get knocked over a number of times.
