Sledding and Visitors

We had to go try out all the snow we've got in the last couple days even though it was 0 degrees outside.

sledding down the little hill in front of our house-

oops that didn't work-

Maddie giving Garen a ride while he sat and ate snow-

too tired to pull anymore-

We got to hang out with my best friend Carrol and her family yesterday and last night since on their way back home to Ohio the freeway was closed due to bad weather. So they got to stay the night. It was so fun to play with her little girls and talk for hours. I miss them already.
Later we all went to see the new Yogi Bear movie. The kids laughed a lot. And the rest of our New Year's Eve was spend playing MariKart and Just Dance on the Wii and shooting off party poppers.

Snow

We've gotten a ton of snow lately, so the kids enjoyed sledding outside for several hours today before we head to Idaho for Christmas tomorrow!~

Garen coming in all snow covered after playing outside for about 2 hours. He enjoyed a nice hot bath when he came in.

And this is Sophie telling me not to put on her snow clothes because it's to cold out there. She doesn't like the snow to get on her. When it does she cries messy until I wipe it off.

First Snow

It snowed today and the didn't even blow it away this time. After church the kids were anxious to go outside and build a snowman, eat snow, and make snow angels.

They made this all by themselves-

Sophie was napping when the other two were out so she just watched it out the window when she woke up-

Sunday Snow

Okay, I don't usually let my kids put on snowpants and play outside right after church. But after going to church by myself with three kids, a very grumpy Sophie that I held the whole time, and helping dozens of kids practice for a primary program I was willing to bend the rules and have them outside for an hour. Good thing to, because later it rained and all the snow was gone by the afternoon.

The kids helping me get some things done in the preschool. Okay, they made a bigger mess than what I started with. But at least they're cute.

Snow Fun

Garen loved playing in the snow with his daddy! And Maddie had a blast in the snow with her friends at school.
Andy is pretending he is the snowman-

April Snow

At the beginning of the week we were playing outside without jackets, and yesterday we pulled out the snow pants. I guess all we can do is embrace what comes and make the best of it by building a snowman in April.

Snow, Snow, and more Snow...

Maddie catching snowflakes on her tongue-

Don't you love her hair? She had just pulled out her braids-

We got a ton of snow tonight and it is still coming down!!! The kids wanted to go outside so bad. I let them put their boots on and we delivered goodies to all the close neighbors. I didn't get the kids in their snowpants and their little cheeks were red so I wanted to get them back in after about 20 minutes. But they were having so much fun despite the cold I had to fight them to get them to come back in the house after the last plate was delivered.
*And, no baby yet. I spent about an hour shopping in the mall this morning and it really brought on the contractions, but still no baby! I guess that's okay because I heard I-80 is closed right now so Andy's parents wouldn't be able to make it tonight anyway.

Our First Wyoming Snow!

When I woke up this morning I was surprised to see about 2 inches of snow out my window! But the first snow is always exciting and it was fun to show the kids. Maddie wanted to put on he snow clothes and go sledding right then! But she settled for going to school instead.

Garen was back to his normal self this morning, ready to eat and play so I'm glad that flu bug is over with.
This picture is of Maddie pulling a face after I was teasing her that she should have waited to fall of the playground till today because it wouldn't have hurt so bad in the snow. :) She's a trooper with her scraped up head, face and knees.-

Snow Day!!!

So Wednesday I had my friend's kids, Danny and Jacob. The morning went well, we got Maddie to ballet and back, everyone got lunch, and everyone was bundled up and ready to go take Maddie and Jacob to preschool.

It had been lightly snowing all morning and had picked up into large snowflakes just as we were leaving. And in the 20 minutes it took me to get to preschool the storm had come on with a vengance! The wind was blowing like crazy so you couldn't see anything in front of you.
The worst part was that the preschool is on top of a giant hill. I got to the hill and saw about 8 cars attempting to go up it and sliding right back down! I thought I'm not even going to try with these 4 little sweeties in the van.
Just then a plow came through and right up the hill-so then I thought, okay maybe I'll try now. Well, the plow had moved the snow, but that snow was turning into ice the moment it hit something.
I get a good start and head on up the hill. I'm almost to the top and we start spinning out and sliding on backwards! Maddie and Jacob kept saying " I don't want to slide anymore!" Luckily these boys, that had gotten stuck themselves, pushed the front of the van around for us, so we could slide down the hill forward instead of backwards. To wrap it up, we didn't make it to preschool.
So we all went back to my house and had preschool there. The kids didn't seem to mind, plus their teacher said they had so many kids gone they will be repeating the Valentine's party on Friday.

Back at my house we did puzzles, practiced letters and letter sounds, painted, played a game to tell what object was heavy and which one was light, sang songs, read Valentine stories, played Simon Says, made love bugs, and just played. We had a lot of fun, but my house looked like a war zone when the boys left at 5! But hey, a good mess is just a sign of a good time!
Here are some pictures of our day:
puzzles-
Maddie wrote Happy Valentine's Day all by herself-

I did not tell them to pose like this, they did it on their own-
