Girl Scout Un-Birthday Party

Today was the Girl Scout Un-birthday party. And it was at my house-why I do these things, I don't know. We had about 20 people here in my humble home. The weather was a bit crummy but the rain held off until after the party.
We grilled hamburgers and hot dogs, played games, and had cake and ice cream. We were going to do water balloons, but the dark clouds made us choose to save those for another day.

Our sad little swingset bent and tipped over from all those kids at once. We'll see if Andy can do something to fix it or if it's time for a new swingset.-

Summertime Haircut

A friend from the ward was nice enough to cut Maddie's hair for me. Maddie likes her hair down all the time and that just doesn't work when her hair is long. So we chopped it off again.

Maddie was playing with two of the neighbor kids. And we had so much extra food from this weekend I made them stay for lunch to eat up our extra spaghetti, watermelon, and cake.

What do you do in the Summertime?

So Maddie's school ended on Thursday. Friday was a huge party and the weekend was full of family and more presents. Sunday was church and then a get together with friends.

Now Monday is here and it rained all day. And besides swimming lessons, there wasn't much going on. So at about12:30 this afternoon I hear out of Maddie's mouth, "There's nothing to do in the Summer time."
We're going to have some problems this Summer if she's saying this on the first real day out of school and with about 50 new birthday presents surrounding her.

Starting tomorrow Job charts will be in full service as well as "Summer school hour," and a trip to the library!

Family Party for Garen and Maddie

A few hours after Maddie's Princess party on Friday; Amber, Zeb and Levi came followed by Jann and Boyd. The kids were so excited. After dinner we played Maddie's new Disney Scene It game and Maddie's team won.

After a late night to bed, several times up with Sophie and an early morning Saturday began. Andy made a wonderful breakfast for everyone. Then Andy's grandparents got here. We made Maddie and Garen's favorite-spaghetti- for the combined birthday lunch. After lunch was presents.

Maddie received:
-a digital camera and new helmet from G&G Pugmire
-some great new markers and paper from Amber and family
-a Hannah Montana shirt and money from great G&G Pugmire
-Money from Great G&G Jardine
-Some cute jeans and shirts from G&G Young
-and a package arrived from friend Brenda, Jake and Danny with some littlest pet shop animals


Garen received (the rest of his gifts will be given on his actual birthday on Thursday):
-a new helmet, and a super fun fire truck (which was a huge hit) from G&G Pugmire
-a superman and ninja turtle monster trucks from Amber and family
-a shirt and money from Great G&G Pugmire
-and a transformer from Brenda and family

*Both the kids got a new swimming pool from Andy and I.

After presents was cake and ice cream. I got them a Madagascar 2 cake since they both love that movie!
Maddie was very excited to try out her new helmet and show everyone how she rides her bike. Garen preferred to stay in and play with his firetruck.

After everyone left, I took Maddie to Walmart and she picked out some suncatchers to paint with some of her money. And we rented some movies.

Before bed we watched Hotel for Dogs. The kids missed most of it because they were running around with their helmets on hitting each other in the head.

When the kids were in bed, Andy and I watched The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

Our house is a bit of a wreck, but it was a wonderful day!


we still had all of Maddie's decorations up, so I had to add something for Garen. Garen was very upset that his name didn't have two G's in it. So I made him happy by putting two G's-

Maddie's Friend Birthday Party!

Friday was Maddie's Princess friend party. We decorated the house with streamers, shiny material, Disney Princesses, balloons, and even a red carpet. I'm not sure what I was thinking inviting 11 girls and planning lots of games, lunch, crafts, and dessert while Andy was at work and Sophie wouldn't nap and Garen was mad about all the pink and princesses.

But it turned out nicely and the girls were so fun and well behaved!

The guests arrived at 11:00 and we had the princess singalong songs on until everyone arrived. We started with some games, like pin the crown on the princess and guess that princess.

Next was lunch consisting of flower and heart sandwiches, flower Jello jigglers, strawberries and grapes, and pink lemonade.

After, the girls decorated crowns and colored princess pictures. They turned out very cute. We have some very creative 6 and 7 year olds.

Presents came next and her friends gave her some amazing gifts! Including:

-The Hannah Montana surf shack

-littlest pet shops

-Barbie beach pool

-a doodle bear

-new coloring book, markers, crayons, books, paints, stickers, and chalk

-Thumblelina doll and dress up shoes

-play makeup, hair accessories, and purses

After presents we whipped out the ice cream cake. Andy came home for his lunch just in time to cut the cake for us.

Then we played musical pillows with a hidden pea (green ball) under one until the parents came.

The invite made by my friend Brenda who is a graphic designer. They turned out cute! We rolled them up and tied them with ribbon and attached a card that said Princess _____.

Last Day of Kindergarten

I can't believe Kindergarten came and went and now first grade is around the corner! Maddie has learned so much this year and has really enjoyed all her friends. We gave Mrs. Magnuson some flowers and a special note from Maddie.
For there last day they were having games and a pizza party. We wrapped Maddie's sprained ankle up tight and let her wobble into school for her last day.-
