Garen at Preschool

Garen loves preschool and especially all his friends in the preschool. Sometimes I feel bad that he won't be joining them in Kindergarten next year, but I know giving him one more year before sending to a full day of school will be best for him. Then he will be one of the oldest in his grade instead of one of the youngest.
He's always so focused on his work he can't look up at me-

Girl Scout Talent Show

For Girl Scouts I had the girls come up with one talent they wanted to share with everyone and perform it on stage. Maddie plays the piano, is a pretty good dancer, and can sing, plus writes lots of great stories, but when I asked her what talent she wanted to do she picked the recorder. Enjoy! (and the loud noise at the end is not coming from Maddie's recorder-the microphone speakers were wigging out)

Catch me if you Can Ice Show

At the end of the Ice Skating season they let the kids do a little ice show. Keep in mind that ice skating lessons and the show are free with our gym membership so its not a professional thing. Maddie's class got assigned to be celebrities and paparazzi-Maddie was a paparazzi so her costume was super easy, all black. Maddie had a blast performing so it was worth sitting through the 2 and a half hour show!

Weekend Stuff

This weekend was busy but nice family time. Friday there was no school so I took the Girl Scouts on a tour of Commerce Bank. (It's the tallest building in Rock Springs and it's only 4 floors) The girls had a wonderful time and I learned a ton about banks and money that I never knew!

After Girl Scouts I took Maddie and Garen and their friends Kamryn and Austin to the movie Hop. It was pretty cute. Then their friends came over to play for a bit.

Then we were off to Maddie's dress rehearsal for the Ice Skating show.

Saturday we got to sleep in a little then sell Girl Scout cookies while Andy went to his basketball game. From there I went straight to Green River to pick up my bountiful basket. I am loving these bountiful baskets! The fruit and veggies are so yummy and you get tons for the $15!

Then we had Maddie's Ice show (it will have it's own post coming up)

Sunday was also an eventful day because it was my last day as the Primary Secretary and my first day in Young Women's. I've had Primary callings for the last 8 years and haven't been in YW since I was 17 so this will be a new exciting challenge. I get to teach the laurels each Sunday! I will miss Primary very much! My kids didn't know what to do after church without me being right there in the primary room. Maybe I should not tell them where the YW room ,then they will have to run and find Andy after church! haha.

Conference Weekend

I love conference weekend. The one weekend where we don't have a billion plans, we get to relax, one week off of church calling responsibilities, and a renewed feeling of motivation and being spiritually uplifted from listening to our beloved Prophet and apostles! The kids were really good this year, they listened and colored and made things like toilet paper roll first presidency. Also this weekend, Andy got to get out and fish a bit with a friend, and I got to enjoy some Zumba, an afternoon at the park with my wonderful new friend, Johanna. Yes is was extremely windy and even rained a bit but it was above 30 degrees and not snowing so we needed to take our chance at the park. Late Saturday night I even got to go with the girls to the movie, Limitless.

Rock Springs Airport tour with Girl Scouts

I have taken the Girl Scouts to a lot of interesting places in the past two years, but I think the airport was one of my favorites. It's such a small airport that everyone from the pilots, to the firefighters, to the manager were more than willing to show us everything and let the girls really explore. They took us to the hanger where they keep the small airplanes/helicopters. Sophie hated it there because it was so windy and the walls were shaking a bit. The hanger was built before the 1920's-even Amelia Earhart had visited it, they showed us a picture of her under that same hanger. The girls watched the FedEx guys load the airplane-I think they were excited to tell someone about what they do. They took us to see the giant size fire trucks they use to put out airplane fires. And they were encouraging the girls to climb right up-I was a little worried someone might get hurt up there, but they loved it! I'm standing on top of one fire truck taking Maddie's picture on top of the other-

Sophie really wanted to climb where the girls were climbing but always realized once she got up there that it was a bit to scary for her-

Family Home Evening

We had a lesson on the plan of Salvation and what we can do to be together forever as a family. Maddie drew herself being baptised and reading her scriptures and wrote down other things she thought were important. Also during this time she had many questions! Some of them difficult. Like our neighbors got married this past Summer in their backyard. They already have a 10 year old and 13 year old together. Maddie really wanted to know how you can have kids without being married first-I told Andy to answer that one. Okay, Garen's picture looks kinda bad, but he explained it as a Prophet (with spinney arms) laying his hands on Garen's head. So I guess Garen's mission in life is going to be a big one if the Prophet is the one with his hands on his head! He did also say that he drew himself trying to run away-interesting.

Preschool Field Trip to the Fire Station

I took the preschoolers to the Fire Station on Monday for our week of Community Helpers. They got to check out all the neat tools, climb through the truck, shake hand with the firefighter in all his gear including the mask, and watch sparky the dog talk about fire safety.

Mom's Birthday

Saturday we went to Burley to surprise my mom for her birthday. Mandy, me and my mom got to go to the Upper Crust for some lunch and spend some time together. We were only in Burley for 24 hours but I got to spend the day with my mom on her birthday, my kids loved every second they got to spend with their cousins, Kaisa, Joren, and Chloe, Me and my sister stayed up till 4AM, and I got to visit my grandparents twice. On our way back to Wyoming we stopped at Brenda's house for about an hour. Maddie and Garen wrestled with her boys and I got to visit with my dear friend for a bit. We finally made it back about 11pm Sunday night
