Andy's Surprise 30th Birthday Party!

This is the way Andy's 30th made him feel-

I know Andy's birthday was 2 weeks ago, but I couldn't get his work schedule and the party to coordinate until the 16th in Logan. He had no idea-he thought his birthday was long over. He's dad was nice enough to take Andy out in search of a few items at Sports Authority. When he came home the house was filled with grandparents, great grandma, aunts, his family and lots off friends!
Since the party was not at my house I had to have Andy's parents and sister help me out a ton-thanks for all the food prep and picking out the cake guys!
The funny thing is that just a few days earlier I was telling Andy he better throw me a huge party for my 30th and he said, "why would you want that?" I went through with his party anyway. I think he enjoyed it!
My camera was taking blurry pictures, but I will get some better ones from Amber and post them on here.

10 Months old

Sophie went to the doctor last week because she was sick and she weighed 19.5 pounds! She's learned to throw screaming and kicking fits when anyone (mostly her brother) takes things away from her. She says dada, mama, and baba and is so much fun. She walks around all day long; she's still not very good at it. There's lots of falling down and slow steps, but she practices alot! She lives to climb up the stairs and pull pans, Tupperware, and utensils out of the cupboards and drawers.

Note from Grandma Young

I just wanted this in my memory book because my grandma is so cute and funny. My grandma is 91 and my grandpa is 96.

What a pleasant weekend we had watching conference. It snowed all day on Sunday and it was so nice to sit in our easy chair to hear the outstanding messages from our leaders. I couldn't help but reflect on how modern technology has enhanced the way we receive the music and spoken word. Of course no matter how many changes come to the presentation, the gospel messages will never change. We just need to be reminded of them often.

Bruce and I are doing as well as possible, but we are looking so old it is scary. Oh well, this is the month for scary things.

Sunday Snow

Okay, I don't usually let my kids put on snowpants and play outside right after church. But after going to church by myself with three kids, a very grumpy Sophie that I held the whole time, and helping dozens of kids practice for a primary program I was willing to bend the rules and have them outside for an hour. Good thing to, because later it rained and all the snow was gone by the afternoon.




The kids helping me get some things done in the preschool. Okay, they made a bigger mess than what I started with. But at least they're cute.

Getting rid of laundry, by Maddie

Maddie was helping me fold a large pile of laundry the other day and she said it made her feel like a girl ant. She learned at school that girl ants work all the time while boy ants do nothing.

Then she continued to tell me that when she grows up she is going to invent little tiny clothes. You can fit them all in one drawer with no hanging or folding. Then when you want to wear one you just stick it to you, push the magic button, and it fits you perfectly. I for one can't wait for that invention to come to pass! Go for it Maddie!

Loving Preschool!

Garen is loving preschool and I am totally loving teaching it! I wish I could do this full time!

GOOOOOAAALLLLL!!!!

Maddie scored two goals and about 10 other attempts at her soccer game last night! I was so proud of her. She played the entire game (they had no subs) and she was all over defense and offense. She has really caught on to the game and knows just where to go, how to get open, and how to pass. It was so fun watching her! She was so excited when she scored. Of course I had my two other sickies wrapped up at the freezing game, but they were not to happy to be there. I tried pulling out the camera to get a video but my batteries were dead-maybe next game.

Sickies

Garen got sick last weekend with a fever, then broke out in a full body rash the next couple of days. Poor kid looked awful and was very tired. He refused to take a nap in his bed but fell asleep in random other places throughout the day. The doctor diagnosed it as Roseola. He said it is very common and most children have it at one point during their childhood. Hopefully he didn't spread it to anyone. It was mostly Thursday-Sunday, and we didn't didn't really go anywhere during these days. He's got a small cough now but feeling much better.

Sophie has also been coughing and has had a raspy voice for several weeks now. She seems fine but is neither getting better or worse. So I took her to the doctor as well and he things she has allergy/a bit of Asthma, so she is now on a daily allergy medicine to see if that will clear her up.

To top it of, Andy broke out in the same rash as Garen had. Who knows what's going on with him!

Snow Fun

Garen loved playing in the snow with his daddy! And Maddie had a blast in the snow with her friends at school.

Happy 30th Andy!!!

Andy turned 30 years old yesterday! The celebration was small but enjoyable. Andy's parents came for the weekend. Then on his special day, he shoveled snow, drove Maddie to school, watched Sophie while I taught preschool, did a load of dishes, built a snowman with Garen and then worked the rest of the day! Isn't he the greatest guy ever!

When he came home for a quick dinner, the kids and I sent him on a treasure hunt to find a few of his favorite things. Then when we got home after the kids were in bed we had brownies and ice cream.

Happy Birthday to my wonderful husband-he has accomplished so much in his first 30 years, I can't wait to see what will come in the next 30!

Walking???

Sophie's not walking around the house yet, but she took two steps to me today! She can walk anywhere hanging onto walls, furniture, or her walker. I give her two weeks before she's walking all on her own.

Plans Change

My Plans for yesterday:

-Get up early and do Maddie's hair cute for school pictures

-Maddie walks to school

-clean up house, and finish Girls Scout stuff

-Meet friends for a birthday lunch

-Get Maddie from school

-Take all the kids with me to Parent/Teacher Conference

-Soccer Practice

-Dinner

-Drop kids off at babysitter while Andy and I go to a Primary Teacher Development meeting

-Get kids to bed

-Relax

What really happened:

-Garen got sick all night with a high fever and body aches

-Sophie woke up early because she had leaked through her diaper

-Garen was up early feeling miserable

-Maddie slept in late leaving me no time to do her hair for pictures.

-It Snowed! and was way to cold for her to walk, so I loaded all the kids up to take Maddie to school.

-Spent the day holding Sophie, putting cold rags on Garen's head, giving him Tylenol, rubbing his aching legs, and getting him juice

-Missed my friends birthday lunch

-Lay down with Garen so he would take a nap, just as I fell asleep with him, Sophie woke up.

-Made Andy come home early from work so I could go to parent/teacher conference without the kids.

-Took Maddie to soccer which they ended up canceling.

-Helped Maddie with her homework.

-Made a quick dinner, Garen didn't eat and just wanted to lay down, I didn't have time to eat, Maddie ate and I'm not sure about Andy.

-Canceled babysitter and I went to the Primary meeting and Andy stayed with the kids.

-Got home at 9:30

-watched a movie (Push) with Andy.

-12:30 bed.

meatballs in 3D

I got to take Maddie and Garen to Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs last night. We got to watch it in 3D-it was very fun. Garen sat very still staring, I think he was a little bit worried about the objects right in front of his face.
Maddie laughed a lot, changed seats, stood up, dropped her glasses in the row in front of us,and ate her whole bag of treats. While Garen didn't move an inch the entire movie, he didn't even eat his treats. It's funny to see how different they are. But we had a wonderful time!
