Young Author's Award

Maddie's teacher told me a few weeks ago that she was entering Maddie's story into the Young Author's Writing contest. I don't have a copy of the story but she wrote about a giraffe that wanted a big apple out of a tree and he tried many silly ways to climb it. Or something like that. Well we found out today that she got third place out of all the 2nd graders in the school district. We are pretty proud of her!!!

Maddie's second grade Christmas party

I had fun helping at Maddie's class party today. The kids were hyped up with treats and excitement! She got a stocking filled with a prize from 20 different kids!

I remember doing this exact same thing during a game of 4 corners when I was in grade school.

Maddie's School Halloween party

Friday was crazy hair day at Maddie's school, so we went pink.-

So I finished my 5 hours of preschool Halloween at 2:30 and then headed straight to Maddie's school to help with her party for the next hour. It's always fun to see Maddie with all her friends in her class.

welcome to second grade games-I love how they are chanting 'Maddie, Maddie'-

First Day of School

Today is Maddie's first day of SECOND GRADE! When did she get so old? I walked her over to school and into her classroom even though she was more than capable of going on her own.

Maddie with friends Arielle and Angelique-

Heading out the door for school, yes it was 30 degrees out so coats were necessary-

new backpacks-

Today was Garen's 2nd day of preschool at the CDC but I got a picture anyway cuz he wouldn't let me last week-

Citizenship Award

Maddie's classmates get to vote on who they think should get the citizenship award and then Maddie's teacher picks out of the top 5. Maddie got awarded this afternoon at her school assembly. I know in these pictures her shirt is far to big for her, but it is her Westridge Elementary shirt and she wanted to wear it on the last day of school.
We are so proud of our Maddie!-

Last Day of First Grade

Here's Maddie on her first and last day of school-

I can't believe she's on her way to 2nd grade!

First grade field day

On Maddie's birthday, her afternoon at school was spent playing games, running races, and doing obsticle courses.

Maddie's Birthday

Maddie woke up to a table full of balloons and presents. She was so excited to open her presents and to have her favorite things for breakfast-cinnamon rolls, bacon, and grapes.

Talking to Grandma Jann on the phone-

She got the zuh zuh pets she wanted-

Grandma Sue was here and gave her a new book and the Vet Life Wii game. Maddie loves animals and wants to be a veterinarian when she grows up so she loved this game. She also got some fun craft stuff, clothes, shoes, a new game, etc. The big present from my and Andy hasn't arrived yet.

After presents and breakfast we ran Maddie to school-just a little bit late.
Since it's the last week of school Maddie got to watch a movie in the morning, then she got to have a pizza party for lunch with her teacher. Then at noon dad, grandma Sue, Garen, Sophie, and I brought Popsicles and glow in the dark bracelets for everyone in Maddie's class. Maddie got to stand on her chair while everyone sang to her, then pass out her treats, and pick a game for everyone to play. Maddie loved all the attention!

Later that school day they had first grade field day (pictures coming). Then after school Maddie had her first t-ball game (pictures coming).
Finally we got home from the game and had birthday ice cream cake and sang to Maddie. I think she had a wonderful fun filled birthday!

And we loved having Grandma Sue here with us to celebrate!

First Grade Field Trip to Green River

I got to go with Maddie and her class to Expedition Island today in Green River. There were 4 first grade classes and a lot of noise; but I had fun being with Maddie!
