Goodbye to my Childhood Clubhouse

Last weekend my brothers and their kids took down the clubhouse that I spent countless hours in during my 18 years in Burley.
Me and my friends would play all kinds of games in there, the roof was the perfect hiding spot when playing beckon beckon during night games.  I even had a club with 6 members (I was the President of course) and we would meet in the clubhouse to plan things to do.  I sweated out in the sun as I painted that club house. We would dare each other to jump off the roof into the mean redheaded ladies yard behind us.
I admit that it was time since it is over 30 years old and your foot could possible go through the wood on the front porch, but I had no warning.  I guess my mom forgot to mention they were taking it down so when I got an email today with these pictures I felt a little sad that I wasn't part of the demolition.  Not that I would have made the trip to Burley at 38 weeks pregnant had I known anyway.

Activity Days Talent Show

Tonight was the talent show put on by the Activity Day Girls.  Maddie decided she wanted to play and sing 'I'm trying to be like Jesus'  I admire her lack of fear and her courage to perform in front of others.

Preschool Graduation from the CDC

Garen graduated from the Child Development center after attending for 2 years.  That school filled a void and helped him learn things that I just couldn't teach him because my house and his mom were things he was comfortable with and it was when he was in uncomfortable situations that things got difficult.  He has overcome many obstacles and is so ready for Kindergarten in the Fall!

He thought since I turned the camera sideways he would be silly and turn sideways as well-

pre-Summer Splashing

The weather was so nice today we couldn't pass up a chance to go to the splash park!  Today makes me look forward to school being out and having long Summer days at the park with friends.

Maddie's wire

To make room for her permanent teeth Maddie got this back wire put on.  It makes it hard for her to chew some things and it makes her mouth sore but she's been a trooper.  She'll have it on for the next 8-10months.

Sophia

Sophie loves her Sunbeam class.  She talks about her teacher sister Foxley all the time and always wants to make her a special picture or bring her a dandelion.  Sister Foxley always does the cutest lessons.  Today Sophie came home and was super excited to show me her 'big hand'.

As cute and as funny as Sophie is, she's been kind of a stinker lately.  Every night she says she can't sleep and she can't lay in her own bed.  Then even after she falls asleep she ends up coming in my room sometime during the night.  Then she is always wide awake around 6am.  I'm not sure why she started this bad sleeping habit but I think its wearing her out as well as me.  She hasn't napped in over a year but lately she's been zonking out on the couch late afternoon.

Preschool Graduation

Friday night was preschool graduation.  The kids put on 2 skits, sang songs, did the ABC's in sign language, counted in English, Spanish and German and received their diplomas.  Despite Garen's enthusiasm to yell things in the microphone at our grad practice, he opted to not participate at all in the real graduation.  And Sophie did all her parts and sat up there just like she was one of the 5 year olds moving up to Kindergarten. The kids got to say what they wanted to be when they grow up and all the times we practiced Garen would say a dad and Sophie would say a cooker.  But Sophie switched it up at graduation and said she wanted to be a basketball player.  Sadly, since I was running the whole graduation and using a ton of Andy and Maddie's help we go no videos or pictures to record the day.
The only two pictures I took were towards the end of us cleaning up and I think both their face describe how I was feeling physically.  Luckily I have a wonderful husband who carried all the loads in and out of the building, set up and took down all the chairs, set up for the skits, took the garbage out, etc, etc.

And here are just some cute ones of Sophie from a couple weeks ago.  She thinks she has graduated preschool like the rest of the kids and should be going to Kindergarten, too bad she has 2 more years of preschool first.

Today we had a picnic and played at the park with the preschool class.  Tomorrow is graduation and I will be finished teaching my 3rd year of preschool in Rock Springs!

Lots of T-ball

For the past week I've been doing the bare minimum of my responsibilities.  I caught a bad cold complete with a sinus infection and a really bad sore throat.  Even after finishing the antibiotics I felt even worse than the week before.  Sophie got super sick and has been sleeping in my bed and keeping me up all night with her coughing and fevers.  Maddie and Garen were much more mild but both caught colds.  Andy's been working some overtime and hasn't been around to much.  I am super tired and a bit discouraged at the way I feel but know that 'this too shall pass.'

Went to the doctor today, I am now down to weekly appointments.  I'm 36 weeks and everything about mine and the babies health seem to be great.  When checked today the baby is head down and ready to go and I'm dilated to a 1.  Although I would like to have this baby today, I'm glad I have a few more weeks to finish up preschool, celebrate Maddie and Garen's birthdays, and do all the other end of the school year activities.

I was relieved when things seemed to be calming down for us with the gymnastics and figure skating seasons ending, but Garen's t-ball has filled those spots.  He's learning a lot and really enjoyed playing first base tonight because 'he got the ball a lot.'  If you know Garen you know he doesn't get super excited about very many things but he seems to like t-ball even if he is lacking the enthusiasm.

He really likes flipping the front of his hat up and he likes that his coach give them all bubble gum before each game-

towards the end of last nights game, Garen was laying on the grass when he was suppose to be playing 2nd base.  I had no idea what he was doing and wouldn't get up when the coaches were telling him to.  After the game in the car I asked him about it.  He explained that the ball never comes to him and that he figured out that if he lays flat on his stomach his face doesn't get in the grass because the front of his hat holds it up.  I had to laugh and then try an explain that you can't lay down on the field in the middle of a game.

Maddie's Spring Piano Recital

Maddie did great at her recital tonight.  I'm very proud of her, she works on her songs and gets them memorized with zero help from me.  She has surpassed my piano playing skills.

Crazy hair day/ game day at preschool

Today was our last day of preschool in the classroom.  It's been such a fun year and I'm glad I got to have Garen and Sophie in my class!  We had crazy hair day.  I put the pink in Sophie's hair but she requested a black stripe down the middle.

During centers we had game time-

Butterflies

In preschool we've been watching caterpillars that turned into cocoons and then came out butterflies.  Then today we set them free.  All the kids got to put one on their finger before they flew away (Garen choose not to touch any of them)
