Hunting/fishing

Andy got to go on a couple hunting trips, the first one with his friend Chris. They rented a cabin and spent 3 days up there hunting. Andy's friend got his deer but Andy was as lucky. The next week and went with his friend Mark and they floated the Green River on a boat looking for deer. Andy didn't get a deer that day either but he did catch a huge fish so he was pretty happy about that.

Having to run to the grocery store at 8:30am had a couple benefits- 1. You can actually find a cart with a car on the front that has 2 steering wheels and 2.  You can actually push that awkward cart around because no one else is in the store. Everett loved it and cried when I took him out. 

Andy's birthday

The whole weekend of Andy's birthday was so wonderful and very relaxing.  Saturday soccer games got canceled due to all the snow so we had a free day to be together as a family.  First thing in the morning the kids helped me wrap his presents and make him breakfast.  I think the kids were way more excited about Andy's birthday than he was.  Then we enjoyed a very spiritually fulfilling day watching conference.  We went out to eat for dinner at Golden Corral and then Andy headed off to the priesthood session.  After the kids were all in bed Andy and I stayed up watching Iron Man 3.  Then on Sunday more wonderfulness with the words of our prophet and apostles and we made Andy's birthday cake.  It was a much needed and wonderful weekend with our little family.  

My favorite conference moment was on Saturday night Sophie said our family prayer and it was very heartfelt and beautiful, best prayer I've ever heard from her.  When she was done we told her what a wonderful prayer and she said "I learned in General Conference".  

Maddie's teacher conference

At Maddie's parent/teacher conference with Mrs. McCurtain I got her PAWS testing results that she took last spring.  She scored in the advanced levels in reading and math and in the proficient in Science.  Her teacher loves Maddie and her work ethic.  She only had great things to say about her.

Garens teacher conference

I went to Mrs. Reekers class this morning for Garen's Parent/Teacher Conference and I was so proud of him.   She showed me his test scores and pretty much said wow!  She said he got the highest dibels test score in the entire first grade!  She showed me samples of his writing; when asked to give a topic sentence, 3 details, and a conclusion she said his writing skills are really impressive.  I was so glad to hear all these wonderful things about him.  He's dealing with his anxiety really well and adjusting nicely to first grade and all it has to offer!

I was looking at some of their class books while I was waiting for my turn.  I liked Garen's pages.  They were making sentences.  The rest of the kids just had short ones like I like cats or something.  Leave it to Garen to use The elephant sat on the dog.  Haha.  He hates dogs.

In this book the kids were drawing a hello and a goodbye for the beginning of the year- 'Hello work, goodbye staying up late'

Holy Snow!

We were really surprised to wake up to so much snow today!!!  The kids were extremely excited.  Sophie ran upstairs and put on her Christmas shirt.  After I went to Parent/teacher conferences we headed out to play.  Garen didn't want to go out, he just wanted to read his new Ninjago book we bought at the book fair.
It was Everett's first time playing out in the snow.  He was fine with it till he tried to walk and could hardly move.  Then he tipped over and went face first in the snow.  He was done after that.  The girls went straight to work making a snowman.

Everett has no fear and will just climb on any playground equipment. It's so fun to watch him but that's the key word -watch him!  If I turn my head for a second he is running off or falling of something he has climbed.
