T-ball Adventures

Life is generally happy around here, I actually enjoy the business of life and new experiences but sometimes life is hard and I don't share a ton of the hard or negative things on here. Today I am.

Garen started his first season of t-ball this week. Someday if he becomes a great baseball player and has a love for the game I hope he is grateful for his mom who took him no matter what.

Tuesday's practice: I hadn't been feeling well all day long (which can be normal with this pregnancy) but I pushed through the day making lunches getting to school, cleaning up, teaching preschool, etc. Later we headed to Garen's tball practice. Garen is always anxious about starting something new so I was trying to prep him. After meeting with the coach for a bit and standing there feeling really awful, I got Garen and Sophe and headed back to the van. I pulled out, made it to the stop sign and threw up. Luckily I had a bag in the van. Cars were lined up behind me at the stop sign and there was no place to pull over so I continued to drive and throw up at the same time (I think that may be worse than texting and driving). Meanwhile in the back of the car Sophie and Garen are fighting over something and don't even take notice of me puking my guts out. (they have gotten pretty used to me throwing up on a daily bases) This time it wasn't pregnancy, I had a nasty case of the flu and I continued to violently throw up every 30 minutes till the middle of the night. Just saying, massive heartburn mixed with throwing up stomach acid, mixed with 33 weeks of pregnancy and a baby kicking feels like death.
Maddie was super helpful when she got back from gymnastics getting everyone dinner and to bed.

Wednesday was a blur of trying to get everyone ready, take care of Sophie who started throwing up at 7am, and just feeling so weak and miserable. Not trying to complain but to just tell things like it is; It's a very overwhelming feeling of desperation and the need to give up when you feel like you are not capable of taking care of yourself and all you hear is "Mom, I'm thirsty", "Mom, can you help me", Mom....!" But of course I survived as we always do.

Thursday came and after another busy morning, an afternoon of teaching preschool, and down to one car while the van is being fixed we headed to t-ball practice number 2. To start off when Andy dropped of the van he forgot to get any of the kids' carseats out and Garen left his mit in the van. So we crammed in the car with no carseats and with Maddie's mit and an unhappy Garen. It was windy and cold but Garen was being a trooper. The girls were playing on the nearby playground where Sophie fell off the slide resulting in a few minutes of tears and dramatic screaming. There were at least 7 dad's out there perfecting their son's grip and helping them do the drills correctly. Garen got his hugely pregnant tired momma doing her best to encourage him even though I would have much rather been laying down somewhere by myself. Practice ended and it was getting close to 7pm so I told the kids we could pick up McDonalds on the way home. Just before we got there, Sophie throws up all over herself and the back of the car! Honestly! The last thing I wanted to do was clean up more throw up! We headed home with some complaints of, "but we wanted McDonalds!"

So needless to say, I am a little bit worried about what the next t-ball practice has in store for me!

Mom says "You could be the spokesman for all young mothers. The way you described what was really an exceptionally trying day, showed what mothers are made of and how you are determined to survive no matter how hard it gets. Even though it has been years since you were all growing up in our home, you reminded me of the reality of Murphy's Law into my reminiscing mind. Thank you for sharing and you are always in our prayers. You are a survivor.
