First day of Preschool!

I didn't take a picture of Sophie until preschool was over today because my morning was way to crazy so her hair is messed up and she's having a snack.  Although we learned the letter A today and apples so her apple fits right in with the first day picture!
Everett was fantastic!  He slept 3 out of the 4 hours that I taught preschool and then he just sat quietly in his swing for the rest!  The preschool is now covered in colored rice and paint but I say that's just a good sign that the day went well.
I'm pretty beat after the first day with 10 preschoolers, plus Garen was home from school with pink eye!  But Garen was good about staying upstairs and away from everyone while I taught.  I'm sure when I get into the swing of our routine I won't be so tired at the end of the day.

Love the sight of my sound sleeping baby!

Princess Playgroup

Today wast the first day of Sophie's Princess Playgroup and we got to have it at our house.  There was lots of playing mommy, baby, dog, dr, and lots of dressing up.  I traced all the girls on a large piece of paper and they painted it and covered it in glitter.  It was a fun afternoon and Sophie can't wait till next Monday!

Sweet Sophie

I've loved having all day with Sophie the last 2 days.  She tells me the funniest things and talks to me like she is a grown up.  She's been helping me clean and organize the preschool and she is such good company.  Every time I pull out something new she says, "oh I love green glitter, or those numbers are so cool"  Today she was in the toy room and I heard her talking in a microphone saying "Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, the dinosaurs have a wonderful show for you today.  First they will be dancing"  And when I peeked in there she had all the dollhouse people lined up watching the dinosaur show.
She is so anxious to help me with everything throughout the day, laundry, dishes, cooking, and Everett.  Without her older siblings bugging her and bossing her around, I found she it quite a pleasant, funny and happy little thing.

Day two, riding the bus

Garen rode the Kindergarten bus today.  I was worried he might change his mind about getting on at the last minute but he didn't.  He was a bit nervous but he got right on with his buddy Preston.

I watched him get off the bus from my back deck.  He was the first one off but walked so slowly and cautiously that he ended up getting passes by the rest of the kids.  Hope he has a good day!

Sophie was sad to see her older siblings head to school without her.  She would have gladly traded Garen places in Kindergarten.  But she made it through the day with promises that she gets to go to ballet tomorrow and that her princess playgroup and preschool both start next week.  She spent the day being such a good helper while we cleaned and organized the preschool.  And she is so good at taking care of Everett!
Taking a break and answering the cartoons questions while sitting in Everett's Bumbo chair
Everett was so good while we spend 45 minutes at Garen's school trying to get him settled and while I spent the day cleaning and then when I packed him back up in the stroller to pick up the kids and again to take them to soccer.  I couldn't ask for a better baby.  Plus he full on laughed at me today.  He's been giving us little chuckles for awhile but I had him laughing good and hard today!
Check out this big boy in the giant recliner with the remote in hand-

First Day of 4th Grade

4th grade!  When did I become old enough to have a 4th grader?
We had neighbor boys knocking on our door 30 mins before school waiting to walk with Maddie to school. I asked her if she wanted me to walk with her and she replied, "no, I'm good"
Her shirt sums her up pretty well, "Wild at Heart", bright colors and an animal on it.
She only had good things to say about her teacher, her classroom, her friends, PE, etc.  It's going to be a great year!
I am so grateful how easy she makes it on me-I never have to force her to do homework or take her to school crying, or feel worried about how she is doing.

First Day of Kindergarten!

Garen was super excited to go to Kindergarten today.  He was up and dressed at 6:30am!  9:30 finally rolled around and me, Sophie and Everett walked him over to the school.  All was well till we got to the classroom.  Then he began to panic.  He didn't want to sit in his seat that was between two girls and he wasn't sure what to do with his lunch box.  I ended up leaving while he was teary eyed and scared in the classroom doorway.  Luckily he has a great teacher and also a wonderful counselor assigned to him to help him through some of his extreme social anxiety.
I worried about him all day.  I was hoping he wasn't sad and that he actually sat down in the lunch room and ate some food.  But when I was there to pick him up at 3:30 he came out with a smile and excited to tell me about his day.  He did say they moved his seat to a different spot next to a boy-I guess the teachers just couldn't win that battle.

He got a new batman shirt to replace his old favorite one that he wore out; and a new batman backpack plus a cool Mario Brothers lunch box.

Love this silly, smart, and creative little boy even if he gives me a run for my money most days

Our Day at Louis Lake

We had such a fun day at Louis Lake!  We ate our lunch by the lake, played for a couple hours in the sand,  took turn burrying each other, went on a couple little hikes, fished the river, Maddie fell in the river, the kids played in a place they named the log playground, we cooked hot dogs and had cookie smores, and went home extremely dirty and tired.

Of course we had to stop in Farson for some ice cream!

whoops, slipped of the log-

I guess Everett didn't like seeing his siblings as just heads-

She thought she could make it to the big rock in the middle of the river.  She was actually doing really well till the tree got wobbly and slippery at the end...

...And in she went.  She pulled herself back up very quickly due to the cold temperature of the water!

 Log playground-

You've got to end the day with very dirty little fingers holding a hot dog!
