The dance
I took this video at rehearsal with my regular camera. I know the quality and sound are not good, but you can still see the dance

Spring Recital
Maddie had two recitals on Saturday. Her grandma and grandpa got to take her to the morning one and even gave her some roses after her dance. Andy and I got to go to the evening recital and watch the little cutie dance. After her dance I went and got her and brought her in to watch the rest of the dances.

Tour of Albertsons
I took Maddie and her Girl Scout troop to Albertsons yesterday. It was actually a really fun tour. Maddie's favorite part was getting the free apple afterwards.

the only way I could get Sophie to stay put was to give her an apple of her own as well-

Maddie's Christmas Recital
Maddie had her winter ballet recital last night. She was so very cute! I had to hurry and get her ready since she went to a birthday party right after school and by the time I got her home I only had about 30 minutes to feed her dinner, do her hair, makeup and get dressed before I had to take Sophie and Garen to the babysitters (thanks Amanda)! Andy and I watched her cute little dance and then Andy headed out with some friends to go ice fishing (I think he got home around 1:30AM last night-burr).
Maddie and Kennedy-
Their winter recital is just to show parents what they've learned and they don't have rehearsal or anything-which you could tell by the girls not knowing where to stop and start in that big gym. It was to funny!-

Random Pictures from this week...
Sophie is getting into everything!-

Maddie loves playing with Sophie and carrying her around the house, she can't wait for Sophie to wake up from her naps so she can play-

Garen loved the airplane and tank at the park we went to for playgroup-

Pioneer Legacy Play

(Maddie's on the bottom left)
I know for a fact that I would not have survived as a pioneer; I barely survived pioneer play practice! Lets just say 5 hour play practice with one rowdy boy and a very tired baby on top of trying to help with costume changes followed by a short 2 hour break to drive 20 minutes home, eat, do hair and makeup and return for the first performance makes for a long day.
Maddie had 3 performances and in the middle of all this I thought, 'I am never doing this again', but as soon as Maddie got on stage and I saw her sweet little angel dance and then her cute pioneer dance and then her excitement afterward, I decided it was all worth it!
Andy got to watch her first performance, then grandma Jann and grandpa Boyd got to watch the second one, in which my wonderful friend babysat a very grumpy Sophie, and then somehow I got roped into being in the 3rd performance! They were short a school teacher and it wasn't a difficult task, but I wasn't expecting to be in the play! I didn't get a video of the pioneer school girls dance because I had to be in that one.
It was so fun to watch Maddie with her new friends dancing around and complimenting each other on their makeup. And to see her get really nervous right before she went on stage and then be all excited when she came off. All the kids were passing their programs around and having the other kids autograph them-too funny! In between dances the kids got to play games, watch movies and have snacks-Maddie loved every minute of it (except getting her hair curled 3 different times).
What a good experience for Maddie and I'm glad we took this opportunity and I'm glad it's now over.
Maddie and Ellie-
Maddie was very happy to have her dad watch as well as grandma and grandpa (my camera battery was dead while G&G were there)

Birthday Weekend
Well, what a great weekend it has been!!! First of all my parents and my sister Mandy and her kids came on Friday night to see Maddie's ballet recital. Maddie did so well and she loved having so many family members there to watch her. Her cousin Kaisa watched her so closely and was the first to give her a hug and tell her how good she did.

This video is part of her dance at the rehearsal. I used the video camera at the recital and I don't know how to download from that-
Then Saturday morning was spent cooking, cooking, and more cooking. Thank goodness my mom and sister were there to help me prepare for Maddie's Hawaiian Luau 5th birthday party!
My final count of people that attended her birthday was 54! But it was a hit. For dinner we had Hawaiian haystacks and ham and pineapple skewers. Then for entertainment we had a pinata, making necklaces, decorating surfboards, water balloon volleyball, and limbo. We topped it off with a volcano cake, a flower cake, and blue water cupcakes.
Maddie stood there with a huge smile on her face as the whole group sang Happy Birthday too her! She loved it!
It was fun to have so much family there and Maddie enjoyed every minute of it! I set out a little notebook at the party for everyone to sign so Maddie could remember everyone that came to her special day. I read it to her before she went to bed-it was very special!
I asked Maddie what her favorite part was and she said it was unwrapping presents and throwing water balloons at people! Maddie's real birthday is actually on Monday and we will be going swimming at the big pool.
Here are some pictures, I'll have to get more from my mom's camera. I didn't get near as many shots as I wanted to because it was so crazy busy-
Then today, Sunday, we rushed to get ready for church on time and prepare my lesson at the last minute. We made it to church just 10 minutes late. When church got out at noon we headed straight to Clarkston where Andy and his family were having a lunch get together before all his cousins headed back to Boise/Arizona. When we finally got home Garen was long overdue for a nap, Andy was running late for work and I was left with piles of stuff that needs to be put away from yesterdays party. And Maddie's birthday isn't even till tomorrow! :) It really was a very enjoyable, eventful weekend and we are blessed to have so many loved ones near!
