Panda Nebulizer

Sophie's wheezing and coughing has been really bad making her breathing labored. So on top of the 3 medications we had to buy we also had to purchase a nebulizer. Sophie's pretty good with it, she likes that it's a panda and she hold it by her mouth most of the time. Sometimes she likes to hold it in the air and watch the steam. I just sit and read stories to her while she holds it. I think her ear infections are clearing up because she isn't complaining about her ears anymore, now if we could just get rid of this other yuck stuff!
And sadly, Garen spiked a fever last night and is now coughing.

One Sick Boy

I think this picture sums it up pretty well. Poor kid is so sick. Not only did he get his sister's pink eye 10 times worse than her, he has an awful cough, a sore throat, and currently a fever of 102.9 after several doses of Tylenol and Motrin! He doesn't want to eat much; he said if he swallows it will make his throat bleed, so I guess it hurts pretty bad. He had a 4 hour nap today aided with a humidifier, Vick's, cold rags, and Tylenol, but he doesn't seem to be feeling any better.

I'm just waiting for Andy to get home from his Boy Scout Court of Honor so he can give this little guy a much needed blessing.

Playing at the Park,

Maddie woke up Monday with a bit of a red eye and some goop so we headed to the doctor and she had the start of pink eye. We picked up her eye drops, a treat and a movie and I canceled all my plans for the day and we just hung out. Tuesday Maddie was dying to go to school and her eye looked much better but the Dr. said to wait 24 hours after starting the eye drops before sending her back. So we headed to the park (where there were no other kids) Tuesday afternoon to play.
The kids (and Andy and I) had a wonderful time running obstacle courses, playing a 2 on 2 game of soccer and just enjoying the birds chirping and the warm weather. This was Sophie's first time at the park since she could walk so she loved climbing up the stairs and going down the slide and just running away.

Nasty bug

The last few days we've had the flu bug at our house. So much for getting stuff done while Maddie and Garen were away. Early Sunday morning Sophie and I got hit. So my Sunday was spent cleaning up Sophie's throw up, giving her baths, doing laundry, throwing up myself and laying down whenever Sophie was napping. And the saddest part is that Garen caught the bug Sunday morning as well and he was in Logan with his grandparents! I felt awful I couldn't be there to take care of him and that Andy's parents were the ones having to clean up his throw up! But they took wonderful care of him.

The kids came back Monday afternoon and we just spent the rest of the day relaxing and washing more laundry. Garen threw up again this morning but we all seem to be feeling better now. Darn flu put a damper on everything!

Mr. Mom

Monday night I got the flu.-not fun. I threw up all night long, had a fever, and bad body aches. Andy was nice enough to get up with Sophie all night. And then he went and got me some sprite and Popsicles. Then Andy took over my day so I could rest.
-He got Maddie dressed and made her lunch
-He took her to school
-Then he went on the field trip with her to the Green River Nursery and Expedition Park. (he even took pictures for me).
-In the afternoon he let me take a nap.
-Then he took Maddie to swimming lessons and played with Garen in the giant blocks.
-Then he played some basketball with Maddie and Garen.
-Later he took Garen to his swimming lessons and had a great time swimming and sitting in the hot tub with him.

I'm so grateful Andy was able to be home to help me with the kids and that Andy made it so we didn't have to miss out on all the days plans. Even though according to Andy, I put him way outside his comfort box.

Parent/Teacher Conference

Last night we went to our first (of many) parent/teacher conferences. Maddie has such a great teacher and she really loves it and that's the most important thing. The teacher had great things to say about Maddie. How quickly she catches on to new concepts and how well her reading is coming along.

The teacher did tell us that they just got two new (wild) boys in the class this last week and Maddie has befriended them. This new friendship has also got Maddie put at the timeout table-a first for her. The teacher said Maddie does very well on her work and follows instructions except for this week. I just had to laugh when Mrs. Magnuson said Maddie was chasing the boys around the room.

I guess you can't sit quietly and work all day long, right!? I know I didn't when I was in Kindergarten and I was only there for a couple hours a day not 6 hours.

Also last night, in the middle of the night Garen woke us up with crying and a bed full of throw up! I don't know what the deal is-we all keep getting sick. I have been washing and lysoling and cleaning everything. I went and got us all new toothbrushes this morning. I don't know what else to do to keep these nasty bugs away.

Garen did recover very quickly and was fine today, but I've about had it with this flu bug going around!

I've been looking around for a little dresser or something to provide a bit more space for all the baby clothes that will be added to all of Maddie's clothes. I really didn't want to buy a $200 dresser and I was lucky enough to find one at the DI last time I looked.

We sanded it and repainted it. So now I can start going through and washing Maddie's old baby clothes and finding out what I have enough off and what I get to go out and buy.

So far Maddie is okay with us moving her play kitchen to the basement so we can have room for the new dresser and pretty soon a crib in her room.
Maddie's never really had to share a room (since Garen didn't ever sleep at night till after he was one he slept in my room, and when Garen turned one they had their own rooms) or any of her things before so we'll see how it goes.



-And yesterday I some how managed to catch the flu bug. I really think it should be some kind of rule that pregnant people should not be able to get the flu! Late Sunday night I thought I was just nauseous like I get often but in the middle of the night I could not stop throwing up! (I got tired of getting up to go in the bathroom so poor Andy had to deal with me throwing up in a bucket in bed). It was awful. It's one thing to have your stomach aching but to have that ache smashed up into your ribs and then to have the baby kick it all night was not the most pleasant feeling. After a blessing from Andy I did get a bit of sleep. But I could not believe the toll it took on my body. Even though the throwing up had stopped I was so weak and tired. So it made a world of difference that Andy was able to stay home from work and take care of things with the kids so I could rest.

30 weeks, flu, cold, and accidents

Wow, what a day! First Garen woke up a few times last night crying which isn't normal and at 5:30AM (Andy had already left to work) I went to lay him back down and stuck my hand a big wet spot. I thought maybe he'd leaked through his diaper but once I turned the light on I realized it was throw up and it was all over the bed and floor. Poor kids was miserable.

I think this is the worst age for them to have the flu because they can talk and run away but they don't understand what's happening to them. Garen cried all morning for food, I gave him one small drink and it came right back up. I would try and take him in the kitchen or bathroom to save the carpets and hold a towel out, but he would not have it. He would try to run away and he'd cry and just choke on his throw up. It was awful!

He was so weak all day, but finally about 20 minutes ago (4:00) he had a cracker and a drink and it hasn't come back up yet (knock on wood).

Then Maddie has a bit of a cold and cough but said she felt fine and refused to stay home. So I made her lunch, got her ready, helped her pick her show and tell, and sent her to school.

Garen finally fell asleep at about 12:30 so I thought I would lay down for a minute. (This pregnancy thing makes me tired!)

But at 12:45 Maddie's school calls. And when the voice on the other side says, "Hi Mrs. Pugmire this is the school nurse" I though for sure Maddie had thrown up as well. But, to my surprise it was something else.

Maddie had fallen off the playground equipment onto her head and had a goose egg and a skinned up forehead. The nurse said she was fine and that Maddie didn't want to come home. I wanted to go check on her but the nurse reassured me she was just fine and that she didn't even cry. It was probably good that I didn't have to go get her since Garen had finally fallen asleep and I had not showered or put any makeup on or anything.

Maddie's teacher is so nice and even called after school to make sure she got home okay and that I knew what had happened to her head.

And lastly, I am 30 weeks today! Only 10 more to go. And with days like these I'm afraid the 10 weeks may go by to quickly! After trying to take care of the 2 I have today I am kind of doubting my ability to handle a third. :(

First encounter with Ear Infections

Garen has had a small cough and runny nose for about a week. But last night he was in obvious pain. He was so tired and kept trying to sleep, but would just whine and rub his ear. So I got him into the doctor first thing this morning and sure enough a very red ear! Poor kid. Hopefully the antibiotic kicks in quickly and we get a little more sleep tonight.

This is the first I've had to deal with ear infections. Maddie is almost 5 and has never had one. And Garen is almost 2 and this is his first.

Alisha, what is the stuff you buy to help the pain?
If anyone has any helpful remedies to help with pain or preventing ear infections please share!

Girl's lunch, rough night, and new opportunities

Thursday afternoon Andy's sister, Amber and Andy's Cousin, Chelsea came over for lunch. They both brought their super cute 5 month old babies. I miss holding these tiny ones that don't scream 'No' and squirm around. Maddie loved reading stories and giving toys to the little ones. And I enjoyed the adult company. I forgot to get a good picture of us, but Maddie had the camera. Here are a few of her shots. (there were many shots of the walls and floors and other odd pictures).

Thursday night about 3 AM Maddie woke up screaming!!! (something she never does). She ran in our bedroom and started to tell me something was in her room making noises and it was alive. I had put the humidifier in her room last night after she was asleep because she's had kind of a flemmy cough. So I try and tell her that it's just the humidifier in her room. But then she starts saying her legs are so hot. And I feel her head and body and she is totally burning up! I'm about to get some Tylenol when she starts to throw up yellow stomach acid. I rush her to the bathroom where she continues to throw up and then frantically has to go potty. So it was either sit on the toilet and throw up on the floor or keep throwing up in the toilet and pee on the floor. yikes! So she obviously gets put in the bath-a cool bath to try and cool her temperature. When we finally got her all cleaned up with some medicine and a cold rag; I got the thermometer out. And her temp was 102.5! She's sitting on our bed looking awful and I said, "I'm so sorry you don't feel good." And she replies "I'll be fine." What a little sweety.

There was no complaining or crying out of her at all. She ended up sleeping in the bed with me and Andy were I kept close watch on her temp. and how she was doing. (she was getting pretty silly for awhile, I'm not sure if that high temp was getting to her or if she just felt silly)

Anyway, we didn't get much sleep, but Maddie is feeling much better today.

After just a few hours of sleep, I got up to go substitute an ESL (English Second Language) class. I was so tired driving over there, but once the day started, I really enjoyed it.

Now onto the new opportunities. Andy informed me today that he received a call about some job openings with Sports Authority that they wanted Andy to think about. The jobs are in Wyoming and Colorado. Also Andy had a meeting tonight about a job with the church. We're not jumping into anything, just looking at our options and see were Andy can get the best experience and make a bit more money. We'll see where it takes us.

And on a side note- TWO MORE DAYS TILL ANDY AND I LEAVE FOR SOME ALONE TIME IN LAS VEGAS!

A little more info.

I think it was inspired that I got so lovey and sentimental about my children this morning (on my previous post). I needed the reminder!
About 2 minutes after I posted my precious little one's pictures; Garen threw up blueberries on my white down comforter (dry clean only) and on my decorative pillow (that also cannot be washed). Pretty much the 2 things I own that can't be thrown in the washer got blue throw up all over them!
As I pulled all the covers off of my just made bed, I hear a loud noise and find that Maddie has just dumped out the entire contents of her piggy bank all over the floor.(she wanted to count it) Garen runs for the money, I take him out of the room (so he doesn't try and pull a Sara by chocking on a penny) and he throws the biggest fit and ends up dumping a huge bucket of crayons on the floor. He grabs a handful and runs down the hall ready to color on anything in site.

So now I need to go to my previous post and remind myself how fun it is to be home with my kids and enjoy their company! :)
